We are constantly being told by the media to be thrifty and to Make Do and Mend, but how can we actually put this all into practice?
Susan takes us back to the 1940s and the days of Mrs Sew and Sew and shows us how to repair and to darn. Susan will also take a worn out or badly fitting garment and turn into something new and useable. Susan will share ideas for adding new cuffs and collars, how to make your own buttons and buckles and how to make even the smallest oddment useful. Finally, Susan will show us how to transform your knitting with charity shop finds and other recycled treasures.
Susan will also be discussing Vintage knitwear in a free presentation at 4pm on Friday 11th September,
VINTAGE KNITWEAR FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
WITH SUSAN CRAWFORD
The co-author of A Stitch in Time, Susan Crawford explores what vintage knitting means to her, the making of A Stitch in Time and allows us to take a close look at some of these special garments.
