The original housing contained an integral thermostat and is difficult to replace. Many housings are now corroded and leaking
This new part fits the whole Flying Standard Range, where a thermostat is fitted, that is some Flying 10, all Flying 12, Flying14, Flying 16 and Flying 20.
The casting in in Aluminium LM27 and has been hardened. It is machined on the inner lip to accept a modern thermostat (now available seperately) 2 holes are drilled where the mounting bolts pass through into the cylinder head. There are two other holes, one is a spout for the bypass hose, the other is taped internally 3/8" BSP for the Temperature gauge sensor. If your car has no sensor, just reuse the 3/8ths blanking plug you already have.
